It was launched in 2003 and has since grown into the world’s largest professional networking site, with over 800 million members in more than 200 countries and territories.

LinkedIn allows users to create a profile that includes their work experience, education, skills, and other professional information. Users can connect with other professionals in their industry, join groups, share content, and apply for jobs.

LinkedIn is used by individuals and organizations for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Help to build a professional brand

  • Building a professional network

  • Finding job opportunities

  • Researching companies and industries

  • Recruiting new employees

  • Promoting products or services

  • Sharing industry news and insights

  • Influence, agitate and start conversations that demonstrate your expertise.

LinkedIn is a valuable tool for professionals in any industry and can help users expand their professional network, stay up-to-date with industry trends, and advance their careers.

What are the main steps?

  1. Have a profile and banner photo. Choose a professional profile picture: Your profile picture is the first impression people will have of you on LinkedIn, so choosing a professional-looking photo is important. Use a high-quality headshot that is well-lit and shows your face clearly.

  2. Optimize your headline: Your headline is the line that appears below your name on LinkedIn, and it’s one of the first things people will see. Use this space to highlight your skills and expertise and make sure it accurately reflects what you do. This can be done in two main ways: either you state your job positions and companies, or you can use the form “I help X do Y”. It depends on personal preferences. Take a look at different profiles on LinkedIn and see what you like most.

  3. Fill out your work experience section and Highlight your education and certifications.

  4. Customize your URL: LinkedIn allows you to customize the URL of your profile, which can make it easier for people to find you. Choose a URL that includes your name or your industry.

  5. Featured allows you to picture the posts you are proud of, or you performed the best and highlighted them there. It is a really good feature! A maximum of six will be visible there, but you can upload more than that.

  6. Get endorsements and recommendations: These can be powerful social proof that demonstrates your skills and abilities. Ask colleagues, supervisors, or mentors to endorse your skills or write a recommendation for you.

  7. Connect and engage with others in your industry: LinkedIn is a great place to network and connect with others in your field. Take the time to connect with colleagues, industry leaders, and potential clients or customers.

  8. Use as many instruments as possible. LinkedIn has many mini tools that are there to be used. For example, you can record how you say your name and a short elevate pitch about you and add a short video to your pic profile.

What and how often should I post on Linkedin?

When it comes to posting on LinkedIn, the content you share should be relevant for you and your network, valuable, and engaging for your target audience.

Here are some suggestions for what and how often to post on LinkedIn:

  1. Share industry news and insights: Sharing news and insights about your industry can position you as a thought leader and keep your connections informed about important developments. Aim to post a few times a week or at least once a week.

  2. Share your own content: If you have created content such as blog posts, whitepapers, or videos, LinkedIn is a great platform to share it with your connections. Aim to post this type of content at least once a month.

  3. Re-Share content from others: Sharing interesting and valuable content from others in your industry can help you build your network and establish yourself as a connector. Aim to share content from others at least once a week.

  4. Engage with others’ content: Engaging with others’ content by commenting, liking, or sharing can help you build relationships with others in your network. Aim to engage with others’ content at least once a day.

Ultimately, the frequency and type of content you post on LinkedIn will depend on your goals and audience. Experiment with different types of content and posting schedules to see what resonates with your audience and helps you achieve your professional goals.
